Sustainable Blue Economy in the Norwegian Arctic

Ocean resources offer vast opportunities for growth and prosperity, but if we are to enjoy these benefits in the long term, it is essential to adopt a knowledge-based, holistic approach. In this project, we chart how Northern Norway’s blue economy measure up to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and consider opportunities and challenges for future value creation.

The project is being carried out in collaboration with DNV GL, which has prepared two reports on behalf of the Centre for the Ocean and the Arctic. The first report was presented to the Prime Minister 3 April 2019. The second one was presented 17 June 2019 in Oslo. Both reports can be downloaded from this page.
