The Arctic Circle Rome Forum - Polar Dialogue

Arctic Circle Assembley
3. March 2026
Rome

Arctic Circle Rome Forum – Polar Dialogue: From Glaciers to Seas is organised in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The Forum will take place at the CNR headquarters in Rome on 3–4 March 2026.

The Forum brings together the international community for dialogue on research, science, diplomacy, security and education. Italy has a long polar history, with more than a century of Arctic exploration and research. This year’s Forum will place particular emphasis on scientific cooperation, the strategic significance of the Arctic, and the role of diplomacy in a time marked by geopolitical uncertainty.

The programme consists of sessions, consultative meetings, roundtable discussions under the Chatham House Rule, and high-level plenary sessions.

The Centre for the Ocean and the Arctic will participate in two sessions:

  • Middle Power Diplomacy in the Arctic
  • Southern Ocean Protection: Political Deadlock?
